Rancho Palos Verdes, Terranea Resort: Marsha and Lamont

So earlier this evening I was trolling the internet, looking for inspiration to begin this blog post. I was at a loss as to how to begin to introduce you to Marsha and Lamont. In a nut-shell, I knew EXACTLY what I wanted to say about them: they are amazing, their story is amazing, and their love so evident both in word and deed. But I can’t just write that and call it a night, that’s a blogging “no no” and let’s be honest, it wouldn’t win any Pulitzer’s!

Going back to me giving Google a run for it’s money…after a while I came across the above quotation and realized this anonymous philosopher hit the nail right on the head! So many times I think we define love by as “she loves him because of …insert quirky/weird character trait here”…you get the idea. What I mean is that the imperfections in the individual allow us to easily interpret how one is meant for the other. Isn’t that the case sometimes?

After reading this quote it finally dawned on me (not literally, although it was getting late), Marsha and Lamont truly have something amazing! This spark, this connection that runs so deep it’s like an extension of who they are as an individual. Even though they live on completely opposite coasts, leading busy corporate jobs that have them jet-setting from state to state, they still aren’t truly complete without the other next to them. It’s the silent connection more often than not that’s impossible to hide; a look, a glance, an extra tight squeeze when they hold one another…this is Marsha and Lamont to the T :)

Having been together for over 7 years, I can only aspire to hold Erin as Lamont holds Marsha when they are together! There’s nothing hidden or quirky, it’s just them together…and they’re stronger for it.

Marsha is a planner, and undoubtedly just like Lamont we love her for that! She set everything up for our Engagement Session at the utterly breath-taking Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes. We had so much fun walking, talking, and capturing that unescapable spark between these two. Erin and I cannot wait for their wedding in May and to meet their wonderful children and families. If these two are any indication, it’s going to be a day to remember!!

Erin and I went back and forth as to which images were given the coveted “blog stamp” so without further adieu, here are two of our favorite people :)

Hello Everyone!

I hope you had a wonderful Valentines/Single Awareness Day! For one of the first times in my life, I had the most amazing day with the most amazing woman; I am seriously in awe of my wife and A.) What she puts up with on a daily basis being married to me…and B.) The amazing heart she has and how it translates into every aspect of her life. I am the luckiest guy :)

Okay, no more mushy gushy for now…I love ya babe <3

NOW…onto something crazy cool that we were a part of last week. If you are a wedding photographer in Orange County, or just a photographer in general who is striving to be the very best artist you can possibly be, there is a group right around the corner who is dedicated to helping you!

Erin and I had the privilege to lead a group at the SoCal Photog Shootout at The Romanesque Room in Pasadena. We were in charge of taking waves of photogs (almost 100 people total) on an engagement shoot with our cool models Derek and Sarah! The purpose of the SoCal Photog Shootout is to connect photographers with different strengths, abilities, and talents to learn from each other, to network and make new friends. And without a doubt, it was “Mission Accomplished” for our time in Pasadena.

Erin and I had so much fun meeting so many new friends and hanging out with the other leaders; it was definitely a learning experience for all involved and hopefully Erin and I were able to add to the learning a bit :)

We can’t wait for the next one down in San Diego next month!

Many thanks to everyone who gave their time and talent to put on such a fun-filled day! If you haven’t seen all the photos from everyone on the Photog Shootout Facebook page click HERE and comment on your favorites!

While Erin and I were mainly going around and teaching and making sure everyone was getting some great shots, we were able to sneak in a few photos here and there, we hope you enjoy!

Engagement Photography, Orange County: Amanda and Frank

49 votes vote for this image

As most all amazing love stories begin, Frank and Amanda met by chance. They hung out one night amongst a big group of friends at church, swapped numbers, hung out the next day, hung out the day after that, and the day after that.

Since they’ve met, Amanda and Frank have been inseparable and I’m so excited to be shooting their wedding this March (soon!).

Frank has a second love, however, and it’s the art of magic. He’s a magician and can always be found with a deck of cards in his pocket and an illusion ready to amaze :) Amanda jokes she shares custody of Frank with his cards, but no matter what loves him to pieces every moment she gets. (Can’t you tell?!)

We took these two to one of our absolute favorite places to shoot and just got out of the way! The engagement session for us is all about practicing for the wedding and getting comfortable in front of the camera. No need this time! Amanda and Frank fell into one another’s arms and never looked back. They were so much fun and we are so blessed to be entrusted with the moments they will forever have to remember their day!

Here are just a handful of our favorite images!

P.S. Be looking for a post this week recapping my amazing trip to Miami for the Portfolio Plus Workshop with Ray Santana and Kenny Kim!
